The complete accumulator-and-hose assembly for the 2005–2008 Ford F-150 / F-Series pickup. On the truck's orifice-tube A/C system, the accumulator stores excess refrigerant, keeps liquid out of the compressor, and dries the system with its built-in desiccant — and this unit comes with the hose lines attached, ready to install. A direct replacement for Ford 4L3Z/6L3Z-19C836 and Motorcraft YF3199.
Protects the compressor & dries the system
The F-150 runs an orifice-tube A/C system, and the accumulator sits on the low (suction) side between the evaporator and the compressor. It does three jobs at once:
Stores & separates — it holds excess liquid refrigerant so only vapor reaches the compressor, preventing the liquid “slugging” that destroys compressors. Dries — its desiccant absorbs moisture that would otherwise form acids, corrode components, and freeze at the orifice tube. Filters — it traps debris circulating in the system. When it saturates or the system is opened, it needs to be replaced.

Technical details
Renew these while the system's open
Any time you open the A/C system, replace the wear parts and set the oil:
Orifice tube
Replace the orifice tube with the accumulator so the system meters refrigerant correctly.

The desiccant starts absorbing moisture as soon as the accumulator is opened to air, so timing matters.
Recover refrigerant
Recover the system charge before opening any line.
Keep it sealed
Leave the caps on the new accumulator until the moment of install.
Fit with new O-rings
Install the assembly with fresh O-rings and replace the orifice tube.
Evacuate & recharge
Set the correct oil, pull a deep vacuum, then charge to the vehicle's specification.
