The brain of a variable compressor
A variable-displacement compressor doesn’t just switch on and off — it varies its output to match cooling demand. The electronic control valve is what regulates that, taking a signal from the vehicle and adjusting the compressor’s stroke.
When the valve fails, the compressor can’t modulate correctly — you get weak cooling, no cooling, or a compressor that won’t destroke. Because the valve is a serviceable part, replacing it is often all it takes to bring the A/C back, instead of replacing the entire compressor.

The valve threads into the compressor body. Keep the system sealed and the O-rings fresh:
Recover refrigerant
Recover the system charge before removing the old valve.
Swap the valve
Remove the failed valve and fit the new one with fresh O-rings to seal.
Reconnect & check
Reconnect the electrical connector and confirm it’s seated.
Evacuate & recharge
Pull a vacuum, then charge to the vehicle’s specification and verify cooling.
