What it does

The low-pressure return to the compressor

The suction line is the low-pressure side of the A/C loop. It routes cool refrigerant vapor leaving the evaporator back to the compressor, so the compressor can circulate it again.

On these medium-duty trucks it’s a formed line assembly. When it corrodes, cracks or leaks at a fitting, the system loses charge and cooling falls off — replacing the line is a common fix to get the A/C holding pressure again.

Questions & answers

FAQ

What does the suction line do?
It carries low-pressure refrigerant vapor from the evaporator outlet back to the compressor. If it’s cracked, corroded or leaking, the system loses charge and cooling drops off.
Will it fit my truck?
It covers the 1998–2002 Chevrolet C6500/C7500 Kodiak and GMC C6500/C7500 Topkick (see the fitment table). Confirm your year and model before ordering.
Is this the suction line only?
Yes — this is the suction (low-pressure) line. If you also need the discharge or liquid line, contact us and we’ll help you get the right part.
How do I know my suction line is bad?
Common signs are weak cooling, a system that won’t hold a charge, oily residue at the fittings, or visible corrosion or damage along the line.
Do I need to replace anything else?
Any time the system is opened, replace the receiver-drier or accumulator and the O-rings, then evacuate to a deep vacuum and recharge to spec.
