AL 718 aluminum-to-aluminum brazing rod — AWS BAlSi-4 (AA 4047)
A flux-cored aluminum-to-aluminum brazing filler metal built on the aerospace-grade AA 4047 / AWS BAlSi-4 (≈12% silicon) alloy. It forms strong, corrosion-resistant joints on all brazeable aluminum with an open-air torch — the non-corrosive flux is built into the rod, so there’s no separate fluxing and no cleanup. Four rods (4-pack).

Complies with AA 4047, AWS A5.8/A5.8M BAlSi-4, AMS 4185, the ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code, and ISO 17672 Al 112.

Braze in four steps
Prep the joint
Clean both surfaces and fit the parts to a 0.003–0.005″ clearance per side for the strongest joint.
Heat the base metal
Use an open-air MAPP or propane torch. AL 718 brazes at 1080–1120°F — hotter than low-temp alloys — so control the heat carefully (aluminum melts near 1220°F).
Flow the rod
Touch the flux-cored rod to the heated joint; the built-in non-corrosive flux pulls the alloy into the joint.
Cool & check
Let it cool — no flux cleanup needed. Inspect and pressure-test any refrigerant joint before returning to service.
Braze safely. Brazing produces fumes and requires open flame. Work in a well-ventilated area, follow ANSI Z49.1 and the product SDS, and use appropriate PPE. Refer to the SDS for full alloy composition and handling.

AL 718 brazes with an open-air torch. Grab a torch to go with it — and if you’re joining aluminum to copper, reach for AL 822 instead.
