Universal A/C expansion valve — externally equalized, 3/8″ × 1/2″ O-ring
A universal-fit externally-equalized thermal expansion valve (TXV) with O-ring connections for R-134a systems. 3/8″ × 1/2″ connections, a 12″ capillary, and a 13″ equalizer with a 1/4″ female O-ring fitting for precise superheat control.
Externally equalized — confirm before ordering. Match your connection sizes (3/8″ × 1/2″ O-ring), the 1/4″ female O-ring equalizer, and the system’s tonnage/superheat against your original. The valve that controls your cooling
The expansion valve is the metering device between the high-pressure liquid line and the evaporator. It drops the refrigerant’s pressure and controls exactly how much enters the evaporator — the key to efficient, consistent cold air.
The sensing element reads the temperature of the refrigerant leaving the evaporator and feeds it back to the valve, so the valve fine-tunes flow to keep the evaporator fully fed without flooding. A worn or clogged valve shows up as weak cooling, frosting, or air that can’t hold temperature.
